wearable sculptures | acrylic enamel on PVC | 2018
Created for Nouvelle Collection Paris, this project features a series of wearable sculptures that reproduce the artist’s own silhouette at a 1:1 scale. Crafted from acrylic enamel on PVC, these pieces function as artificial skins. The work directly addresses the tension between closeness and separation: while the sculptures are exact replicas of a specific body, they remain empty until activated by another. The core of the piece lies in the collaborative encounter between the object and the wearer. Models are given complete autonomy to decide how to touch, hold, and wear the sculptures. The nature of the encounter is defined by the physical negotiation between the wearer’s body and the artist’s cast. By requiring this active participation to complete the work, the piece highlights how true proximity is achieved not just through physical presence, but through the shared agency of touch and movement.
The project has been developed in collaboration with Nouvelle Collection Paris, curated by Sarah Nefissa Belhadjali, and presented at MO.CO. La Panacée, Montpellier, France.
